The most recent Charlotte Business Journal lists the area’s largest commercial real estate developers, ranked two ways.
Beacon Partners tops the list ranked by local square feet developed over the past five years. The company developed 5.3 million square feet locally from 2019 to 2023, approximately 85% of which was industrial property.
Beacon's portfolio is headlined by Carolina Logistics Park, a 300-acre industrial park in Pineville that will include more than 4 million square feet of space upon full buildout. Tenants include Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN), W.W. Grainger Inc., Carolina Foods and Bosch Rexroth Corp.
In October, Rowan County’s board of commissioners voted to accept an offer from Beacon Partners to purchase land at Summit Corporate Center for an 80,000-square-foot industrial facility. Beacon is also planning to develop over 1 million square feet at the new Rapid Commerce Park off Rhyne Road in Charlotte.
Northwood Ravin is No. 2 on the list, with over 4 million square feet of predominantly multifamily projects developed in the Charlotte area from 2019 to 2023. Of that, Northwood Ravin delivered 920,000 local square feet in 2023. The company’s projects include Village at Commonwealth, Providence Row and 500 West Trade.
Crow Holdings Development tops the list ranked by square feet developed in the Charlotte area in 2023. Last year, Crow Holdings delivered more than 3 million square feet of industrial property across the Charlotte area, including a 710,000-square-foot industrial building at Innovation Logistics Center in Salisbury. That building was leased by DHL Supply Chain in November.
