What was once a 95-acre fairgrounds site in north Charlotte is now Metrolina Park, a master-planned industrial park that will eventually contain 1.2 million square feet of distribution space. Beacon Partners has led the $100 million project to its fruition.

The site contains a rich history. It had been home to the Metrolina Tradeshow Expo for more 32 years and redevelopment plans there had
faced numerous hurdles over the years. The Metrolina Park project backed by Beacon Partners began in June 2016 when it closed its
purchase of the site along Statesville Road, about one mile from Interstate 77.

The first two buildings were completed in June 2017, totaling more than 600,000 square feet. Two of the three existing buildings are 100% leased by Bonded Logistics, which has leased space in several buildings owned and managed by Beacon Partners over the past 20 years. Once fully built out, the industrial park will employ hundreds of people going forward as it will help fill the need for distribution space in Charlotte.

“This state-of-the-art park will accommodate both new business to the area as well as growth from existing
north Charlotte parks, which without exception are 90%-plus occupied,” says Beacon’s industrial leasing director Tim Robertson.
