Project Overview

1616 Center is on a very confined site with limited area for construction activities. The L-shape footprint of the office building made construction phasing difficult; however, the design of the building has been well-received in the community and has won several awards.

1616 Center is a five-story Class A office / retail building at the corner of Camden Road and Kingston in the heart of South End. In addition to an elegant pedestrian plaza with patio space and room for walking traffic, the building has restaurants and retail on both sides of a main lobby with modern finishes and artwork. Located on Charlotte’s Rail Trail, a vibrant public park that winds through the heart of the city, the building creates a streetscape that puts tenants within walking distance of the East/West Lynx Light rail station. Tenants also have access to a bike-share program, fitness center, locker rooms, and a large executive conference room overlooking the light rail line.
