Beacon grows industrial portfolio in Southwest Charlotte

General Drive

Beacon Partners has announced its acquisition of 148,686 square feet at 12700 General Drive in Southwest Charlotte. The site is comprised of three industrial buildings on 24.87 acres of zoned I-2 land. A strategic manufacturing and distribution location, General Drive is convenient to I-77, I-485, Charlotte Douglas International Airport and the city’s Central Business District.

Currently leased to Otto Environmental Systems,12700 General Drive is home to the world’s largest manufacturer and distributor of plastic waste containers. With production of approximately 1.5 million units annually, Otto uses the complex to its full advantage. Originally constructed as a rail-served facility in 1988, the plant was expanded in 1995 and serves as a state-of-the-art injection molding manufacturing facility with on-site distribution and extensive outdoor storage.

“We were impressed with Otto’s business and investment in the facility,” said Pete Kidwell, Director of Industrial Investments for Beacon. “We are bullish on I-2 land within the city limits and will continue to expand our holdings in this space.”

Beacon Partners currently owns 3.5 million square feet of space in the Southwest Charlotte Submarket with an additional 3.5 million square feet of planned construction at Carolina Logistics Park, a Class A distribution and manufacturing park. Fermin Deoca of Cushman Wakefield represented Beacon Partners. Newmark represented the owner.
